So, the first excitement is over now, Alex and her children made themselves comfortable in the whelping-box and everybody is curious to see, how the little ones look like. Therefore, it's time to show all puppies individually.

After a break of one and a half years, the "Lobitos" have got puppies again! Between eight o'clock in the morning and shortly after one at noon, our Alex gave birth to five males and four females. And the most important thing is: mother and children are fine!

At the CAC exhibition in Münster on last Saturday, Mr. Vojtek/SK judged the Galgos. Romanow's Xelta got Ex1 and Junior-BOB, and Little Lobito Don Miguel got Ex1, CAC, VDH and BOB in the open class.

Today, the annual "Verbandssieger" Exhibition of the DWZRV took place in Cologne. In total 374 entered sighthounds, among of them 5 Galgos, spent a day with sun and rain at the location of the Köln-Solinger Windhund-Sportverein (sighthound club of Cologne and Solingen). Here are the  results >>>

Here are some additional news regarding the last weekend: in Weiswampach/L, Little Lobito Berto was presented for the first time (vg1); Little Lobito Azuela got the BOB. And Little Lobito Delarueda was also 'best of breed' (Ex1, CAC, CACIB) on the CACIB exhibition in Uden/NL. Congratulations to all of them!

On Sunday morning, Little Lobito Benisa got puppies in the kennel Zarandillo. Congratulations, especially from her mother Miel and from "Aunt Alex", who still has to wait another 4 weeks for her own babies!

Yesterday, in Hamburg, Mrs. Schwerm-Hahne judged the Galgos. The two Little Lobitos Dama de Juny (Ex1, Junior-BOB) and Ana Candis (Ex1, CAC, BOB) were presented successfully. The latter also was second together with Rosa in the competition "child and dog" among nine participants. Congratulations! In the meantime, we were in Hotton/B to watch the runs of the Galgos at the FCI European Coursing Championship. Here is a short photo report.

Yesterday, we participated in this year's Clubshow of the NVOW (Nederlandse Vereniging voor Afghaanse Windhonden en andere Oosterse Windhonderassen). This club officially represents the breed Galgo Español in the Netherlands. Among 113 registered sighthounds, there were in total ten Galgos. Here are the results.

On the Sunday after the Special Galgo Exhibition, the "Sighthound Racing Club of Osnabrück" organised a lure coursing at its location in Ostercappeln. Around 100 sighthounds participated, among them six Galgos. We present some pictures and the results in a short photo report.

On Saturday, the most important German exhibition for the breed Galgo Español took place in Ostercappeln: the Special Galgo Exhibition. 40 Galgos were registered to be judged by Mrs. Ilse Schultze from Germany. We have summarised the day in our photo report.

Here we are, back in the rain and cold. But, we brought something with us from sunny Spain: our photo report about this year's FCI European Dog Show, which took place in Barcelona from June 4-6. We already reported about the Monográfica del Galgo Español and the little "love affair" of our female Alex. This year's Monográfica del Galgo Español has just finished. Best Galgo of the show was our Bärbel (Little Lobito Barbarella)! Details will follow soon in our photo report.

After the great success last year, we again plan to produce a Galgo Calendar for the next year. The format will be DIN A3, the price will be about 15 Euro. For a better planning, we would appreciate to receive an Email with the number of exemplars you would like to reserve. And since we've got more time than last year, we could also send them by mail (which, indeed, is quite expensive!). So, it would, of course, be easier to meet on an exhibition.

Today, the Galgos were judged in Dortmund on the Europasieger exhibition. In total six were there, among them three "Lobitos". The BOB was given to Little Lobito Akilios. Again, congratulations to his owners! Here are all the other results.

Today, we visited the CAC exhibition in Offenbach, where two Galgos were entered: Bohemio del Viento got Ex1 and CAC, Little Lobito Barbarella got Ex1, CAC and BOB. Therefore, our Bärbel now meets the requirements for the title "German Champion of Beauty".

The Junior-BOB was given to Little Lobito Don Miguel, the BOB went to Little Lobito Delfina. Pulso de Valle Estrella now meets the requirements for the title "German Champion of Beauty". For November 6 and 7, 2004, a DWZRV meeting of all Galgo Español owners is scheduled to take place in Alsfeld-Eudorf. This letter has been sent to all Galgo owners, whose addresses are known. All others will find the information (German) in the PDF format. The member of the DWZRV breeding committee for the breed Galgo Español, Mrs. Ursula Jaenicke, asks all, who would like to participate, to return a non-committal registration by April 20.

Five Galgos in total - among them four Little Lobitos - presented themselves today at the CAC exhibition in Ostercappeln. The weather was partially sunny but relatively cold. The Junior-BOB at the end went to Little Lobito Don Miguel, the BOB to Little Lobito Caspar. Here are all results.

We have just got the results of today's international exhibition in Leiden/NL: Ex1, CAC and CACIB were given to Little Lobito Bastian and also to his sister Little Lobito Benisa, who in addition became Best of Breed.

Not only his owners Joan and Steve Garth from California are fascinated by Little Lobito Caipirinha's ability and enthusiasm for coursing. Meanwhile, he became "Coursing Mixed Champion" and in addition, he got the "Top Dog in TCC". How he also won the "Desert Hare Classic Hunt" in New Mexico, can be read in an exciting photo report which was written by Steve.

For all, who today received the DWZRV club magazine "Unsere Windhunde" and are now asking themselves, which are the two Galgos in the MERA^®DOG advertisement, here is our answer: the black dog (left) is called Vasconcico, the brindled one Vilancico. Their owner is Pierre Faure. Vilancico is the father of a litter in the French kennel "de la Leyenda de las Estrellas". The photo - by the way - is taken from the beautiful book "Chiens" of the photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand.

All Galgo friends should make a note of June 19, 2004. On that day, this year's Special Galgo Exhibition will take place in Ostercappeln (located in the North-West of Germany, close to Osnabrück). Mrs. Ilse Schultze has been invited to judge. And on the next day, a coursing will be held; we hope that many Galgos will participate. More info will follow soon.

This year's season has started! And the "Düsseldorfer Windhund-Rennverein" again has proven its innovative potential: this time, the CAC exhibition in Issum-Sevelen took place on two days of this weekend; one part of the sighthound breeds were judged on Saturday, the other part on Sunday. It surely was making a virtue of necessity, since the hall was just spacious enough for two rings, in which Mrs. Raufelder and Mrs. Quaritsch-Fricke judged on both days. But the number of 221 registered sighthounds shows, that the concept was well accepted. So, we spent a nice day in Issum, which at the end was crwoned with the success of Little Lobito Azuela, who became BIS of the day. Here are the results >>>

Little Lobito Caipirinha currently attracts a lot of attention among sighthound friends in the USA: in this winter, he started to participate in his first coursing competitions. And he did it so successfully, that he now is first in the TCC Toplist for all sighthound breeds! His owners Joan und Steve Garth from California sent us a report about his first coursing and some new photos.

An interesting article about the dog breed Galgo Español has been published in the December issue of the Dutch dog magazine De Hondenwereld. To our great pleasure, a photo of Little Lobito Bastian was chosen for the title!

We spent more than three weeks of holidays in France and Spain. Now, the rain has got us back. So, what's new? Together with some French sighthound friends, Roderick Russell-Jones (owner of Chips, the brother of our Paula) is constructing a new sighthound racing track in a little village not far away from Perpignan. A website already exists. Then, our dogs had the opportunity to run, play and enjoy the sun at the almost deserted beaches of Valencia and Alicante. After that, we visited the kennel de Valle Estrella. Since mid of 2003, Bartolomé Ramírez Castro, acting president of the Spanish Galgo Club, is the mayor of Villa del Río close to Córdoba. A lot of improvements are already visible! Next stop of our journey was Torrijos, where we - together with our friend Susanna Sáez - visited the start of the final competitions for the Campeonato Copa del Rey. Due to a press-pass, we could be right in the middle of the event and were able to take a lot of interesting photos, which we will publish soon. At the end of our journey, further visits at different kennels were on our programme, among them Randeros in Valencia and Rayma in Castellón. Now, we have to get used again to the cold weather and then we will select the best of our 779 photos...
